The VBTTF's mission is to both recognize and promote the invaluable contributions that the city’s hotels, motels, timeshares, restaurants, retail stores, attractions, corporations, entertainment venues, sports facilities and other business enterprises make to support our community's economic vitality and quality of life. The Foundation also provides scholarships for high school and college students that live and/or work in Virginia Beach and are enrolled in culinary arts, hospitality and tourism management or any other related discipline at an accredited public, private or for-profit college or university in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The VBTTF additionally assists in building international, national, statewide, regional and local partnerships to support favorable travel and tourism-related policies and programs to help further strengthen and unify Virginia Beach's hospitality industry.
Finally, the Foundation supports educational efforts and research reports on Virginia Beach and the Coastal Virginia Region's travel and tourism sectors.
The VBTTF is classified as a "public charity" by the federal government under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Financial contributions to the VBTTF are also tax-deductible to the full extent provided by federal law.
