Steve Free Band: Appalachian and Americana Music

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) presents internationally acclaimed award winning singer/songwriter/recording artist Steve Free and his ensemble in an evening of folk music that combines the sounds of Appalachia, Americana and Country. The performance takes place on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 7pm at The Patricia Lindley Center for the Performing Arts, 627 N. Main Street, Wellington, Ohio 44090.

Free’s awards include 9 ASCAP Awards, a Plantinum Record and a Grammy nomination. In 2008 he won the Ohio Governor’s Award for the number one artist in the state and in 2009 The Kentucky State Senate honored him for his musical contributions to Appalachia. In 2000 he received a lifetime achievement award from Airplay International in Nashville for his decades of international airplay. 

His song “Siege at Lucasville”, about the 1993 Ohio prison riot, was filmed by CBS TV’s 48 Hours in 1996 and his song “Our Hometown” is featured in the PBS documentary Beyond These Walls. Free has performed on PBS, NPR, The Nashville Network and has been featured in the AFM International Magazine, GTE Music Magazine in Nashville and numerous other music industry magazines and newspaper articles.
