Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) presents the Avenue Brass Quintet on Sunday, May 6, at 2 pm, at the Wadsworth Public Library, 132 Broad St.  Founded in the fall of 2015, Avenue Brass is The University of Akron's premier student brass ensemble. Avenue Brass performs two full recitals per year and is active in community engagement through an ongoing series of community concerts.

Avenue Brass consists of five performance majors from The University of Akron and are all currently completing their third year of their undergraduate degrees. The group is coached by Tucker Jolly, Professor Emeritus of Tuba at UA.

At home with a variety of genres, the quintet regularly performs music from all cultures and musical styles and plans to continue to engage the Akron community through performances at the local, state and national levels.

Join us on a fun-filled journey around the world through different styles of music, beginning in the early Baroque era in Germany with the Galliard Battaglia by Samuel Scheidt. We will then fast forward to explore the differences in western and eastern music with a suite from Gershwin's Porgy and Bess (arr. Jack Gale) and a few traditional eastern tunes as performed by the Canadian Brass. We will conclude with an upbeat New Orleans style arrangement of a popular hymn Just a Closer Walk with Thee (arr. Don Gillis).

Admission is free, but reservations recommended at 330-722-2541, or click here to reserve your seat!
