Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) presents composition and performing duo The Baker’s Basement on April 14, 2019 from 2-3 pm at the Wadsworth Public Library, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth, OH.
Join Cleveland based artists Kate Dedinsky and Adam Grindler as they present a peculiar fusion of music best described as “Swinging Folk Funk.” Founded in 2012, the Baker’s Basement has been on a true musical journey that has resulted in their most recent adaptation, a mercurial performance style that combines strummed and picked acoustic guitar, guillele, interwoven male and female vocals, and a miniature homemade percussion set up that they call the “Tempeh Kit.” In reflection of their ever-changing approach to stage and composition, this program will speak to the roll of open-mindedness and adaptability as it pertains to genre, instrumentation, venue, and audience.
The Baker’s Basement delivers songs of variable intensity and emotion. Some pieces are intimate, tender, and sparse, while others are uptempo, pulsing, full, and joyful. This last word has played a particularly important roll in the duo’s musical philosophy – Adam and Kate have made a concerted effort to create a sense of joy and humor in parts of their writing and performance, be it through lyrical content or the addition of the occasional oddball instrument: whistles, hums, mouth trumpet. The Baker’s Basement looks forward to providing a glimpse of their quirky journey as writers and performers.
Admission is free, but reservations recommended at 330-722-2541 or click here to reserve your seat.
