Joe Leaman: Sounds of the Carribean/Steel Drums

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) join forces with the Guernsey County District Public Library for Sounds of the Caribbean on Monday, June 10, 2019, at 6:30 pm at the Stop Nine Church and Family Activity Center, 60330 Southgate Road, Byesville, OH 43723.


The Steel Drums, or “steel pans” as many call it, are among the most unique of all acoustic instruments. This presentation will feature the sweet sounds of the steel pan, history lessons, and storytelling of how pan made it’s way from Trinidad and Tobago to Ohio!

Joe Leaman, a graduate of the University of Akron, and former member of the acclaimed University of Akron Steel Band is an in-demand freelance musician and educator throughout Ohio.
