Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Massillon Museum present A Celtic Christmas on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at 6 pm, featuring Clash of the Tartans, at the Massillon Museum, 121 Lincoln Way E., Massillon, OH 44646. The concert is free.
Clash of the Tartans is an all-female Celtic and American folk band, putting Celtic twists to popular music and exposing similarities between American and Celtic folk music. Musicians are Julie Williams, flute, Alyssa Schreiber, fiddle, Erica Tompkins, fiddle and bodhran, Elizabeth Crowe, cello and banjo, and Georgeann Tropiano, guitar and vocals.
The Celtic Christmas program will feature the music of Ireland, Scotland, and England that celebrate the holidays and winter. There will be instrumentals, vocals, as well as some sing-a-longs to keep you tapping your feet. The end of the program will give you a taste of the Scottish celebration, “Burns Night,” which takes place in January. Titles will include Hogmany, John Barleycorn, In the Bleak MidWinter, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Auld Lang Syne, and many more.
